Kal was really not used to fancy clothing. Hell, he didn't even wear sleeves at all unless he absolutely had to. But damned if he wasn't going to get a nice ass suit to take Cam to the Ball in. Even if the man was going to have to practically dress him in it just to make sure it looked ok.

He chuckled at the mental image of Cam chasing him around the room with a tuxedo and bowtie.

Fortunately Cam had agreed to meet him at the shop to get fitted and pick out something that actually looked decent on him. He shivered and quickly made his way inside. That thing about wearing sleeves? Well with the growing chill of autumn he had been forced to start wearing jackets. He could feel the cold seeping in and sapping his energy like it always did. Hopefully it wouldn't get too cold out by Samhain or he might have to break out his cane for the dance.

But inside the shop was warm and he looked around at all the fancy dresses and suits on display. Of course he was more interested in finding a certain foxy man. Had he made it there before him or not? Kal wasn't sure.

There was a chill in the air, and because of that Cam had been feeling ghost pain in his missing leg all day. It was nothing serious, but enough to be a bit distracting. The teacher had called on Cam three times before he had awknowledged them and sprang up, knocking down his water bottle on the desk. The whole class, and Cam, had gotten a laugh out of that.
But despite the pain Cam wasn't down, not in the slightest. These days it was almost impossible to get him down. And the reason was none other than Kal. Just thinking about the guy brought a smile on Cam's face, and going to see him and help him pick a tux was making Cam basically skip.

Cam had been in his fox form since the academy but had shifted back when he got to the city. He turned some heads with his stylish red jacket and face, that was even more attractive with the happy smile Cam had on it.
Cam knew he was a bit late, he had the tendency to do so. But Kal probably wouldn't mind, since the reason Cam was late was good. He spotted the shop they were meant to meet in down the street and Cam lightly jogged the rest of the way, his excitement growing with each step.

Inside the shop Cam let out a small sigh at the warmth, and he looked for the person that could make it even warmer. Cam spotted him, his back towards him, and he smiled bit slyly and sneaked up on Kal. Cam hopped a bit and jumped on Kal's back, wrapping his arms around him.
"I'm just going to skip the guess who, naturally there is no way you wouldn't recognize me instantly."
Cam said with a snicker and enjoyed the warmth emanating from Kal with a happy sigh.

Cam wasn't there yet. Or if he was he was hiding in the back where the changing rooms were. Which he doubted. Kal was just about to pull out his phone and text Cam as someone jumped on his back.

He hadn't even noticed the sound of the door or of Cam sneaking up behind him. Kal stumbled a little bit, having not expected the sudden weight but he managed to keep them both from tumbling over onto the nearby rack of clothes. His aura of warmth and humidity was actually a little weaker than usual but it still was there and returning to normal strength as Kal himself warmed up.

"Ow, hey. Yeah, Cam if that wasn't you jumping on me I think they'd have a problem. Mostly an angry boyfriend swinging a leg-shaped weapon of mass destruction at their head," he laughed as he stumbled goofily about some more with the fashionable red Cam-shaped backpack he was now wearing.

After making sure he wasn't going to fall over Kal reached his hands back and down to help Cam with the whole piggyback ride thing they had going on. He did though give Cam a small little mischievous squeeze as his hands moved back to help lift and give a bit of a seat for Cam.

After a few moments of them horsing around there was a noise. "Ahem," came the quiet but vaguely annoyed sound from an older man behind the counter. "Can I... help you two gentlemen today?"

Kal's face looked a little like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar and chuckled nervously. "Oh, uh... yeah.... sorry about that I guess we just got a little too carried away," he apologized to the man but grinned up at Cam and burst into more laughter. Man was he glad to see Cam. He also didn't exactly drop him either- he was waiting for Cam to be ready so he could just lower him safely.

Cam trusted his strong handsome boyfriend wouldn't drop him so even when Kal stumbled around he didn't doubt it for a second. Cam just kept his arms around Kal and laughed along with him as he spoke and stumbled around some more.
"Oh please, do I seem like the jealous type? I wouldn't bother taking my leg off for something like that, I'd keep it on as I'd kick their ass."
Cam joked back and snickered as he squeezed Kal a bit, his happiness increasing with every moment he spent near the guy.

Cam hadn't exactly meant for Kal to give him a piggyback ride but as the guy reached back and gave Cam one anyway he just rolled with it, grinning all the while. The squeeze Kal gave him Cam answered with a slight tug on Kal's hair and a kiss on his cheek. Cam swung his legs slightly and set his chin on Kal's shoulder, his cheek against Kal's.
"My my, good sir, unable to keep those hands to yourself? Unsuitable for a gentleman."
Cam said with a snicker, he had noticed the older man by the counter so he said it quietly enough so only Kal heard it. Well, unless the old man had an enhanced hearing.

Cam chuckled at Kal's expression when the old man finally made his presence known, he looked so cute with a face like that. Cam had stopped making that face when he was 14, he was so used to these kinds of situations. Kal seemed to recover quickly enough though, and Cam laughed with him and gave him one more kiss on the cheek, not really caring about the man that was clearly annoyed with them. Cam could see it from his aura and expression.
"Good day. Yes, actually you can help us. Or well, help this guy. I'll be getting down now, Kal."
Cam said, patting Kal's head a bit, and with his assistance Cam would get down and straighten his jacket a bit before smiling at the man with a professional smile. This was his territory.

"Could you please show us where we can find slim fit suits, or modern fit if the cut doesn't quite fit? I was thinking charcoal or granite coloured, and peaked lapels. Side vents are optional."
Cam said this all in a knowing and confident tone and looking the man straight in the eye, he knew what he was talking about. And the man saw that too, since he simply nodded and started leading Cam and Kal towards the back of the store. Cam linked his arm with Kal's and flashed a grin at him.
"And that's how you do it."
He whispered and chuckled a bit, following the man. He lead the pair to a rack filled with suits that all would've looked the same to someone lacking Cam's level of knowledge. After assuring the man they didn't need any more help Cam turned to Kal with an excited smile, he was practically bouncing.
"Okay, let's start~ First of all, do you know anything at all about formal wear?"

Kal laughed because he was fairly certain Cam would literally kick someone's ass for that. Poor sould wouldn't even see it coming either. Just *wham*, and then misfortune and regret.

Kal was so happy once Cam got there. Just the contact between them, even though he had literally jumped on his back and was unintentionally riding him around the store a bit, made Kal giddy and warm inside. He leaned his head over to press his own cheek against Cam's and closed his eyes happily. "Sorry, but my hands can't help themselves. Punbelievable, I know," he whispered back. Anything else he might have said or done was cut off by the store employee.

He sheepishly helped Cam down by crouching a little and reluctantly letting go of him. And absolutely let Cam do the talking, thank goodness. He would have been utterly lost in the sea of fabric. Even if he was a little bit distracted by Cam. Couldn't be helped.

Slim fit and the colors he mostly understood but the rest of it might as well have been another language to him. He'd had no reason to dress up really before this. He certainly had never been to a formal dance with anyone. Kal gave Cam a sort of lost but happy grin as they linked arms and he let himself be lead into the grand reaches of the shop. Towards a row of suits that looked basically the same to him. There were a few differences but he was definitely missing most of the subtle features.

The clerk shrugged and left the two to shop since Cam seemed to be an expert. It wasn't like they were going to steal a whole suit anyway so he returned to the counter to get back to his crossword puzzle.

Kal looked at Cam. Looked at the suits and then back at Cam. "Honestly, no. I guess I know you wear a white dress shirt with a jacket and pants right? Fancy clothes aren't my wheelhouse. So... I guess you get to play dress up?" he laughed and took off his jacket to hang up by the changing area before stepping back over to kiss Cam on the cheek. Only fair, since he'd gotten a couple kisses earlier. The chilly weather outside completely forgotten at that point.

Well, Cam had expected as much when Kal admitted he knew close to nothing about formal wear. It wasn't surprising since Cam rarely even saw Kal wearing sleeves. Although that meant Cam could look at his muscular arms all he wanted to he didn't complain.
"Dress up, that's my second favourite game~ And it's even better when I can play it with such a good model."
Cam said with a smile and happily received the kiss Kal gave him. Cam similarly went to put his jacket away, under it he just had a simple black shirt with a wide neckline. Cam spun around and rubbed his hands together like a plotting villain.
"And now begins the easiest part, looking for the right kind of suit. I need to warn you, but this might get ugly. You'll see a whole new side of me."
Cam said with a dramatic tone and he looked at Kal with serious eyes. Cam was mostly joking, but he also meant it. When Cam was shopping it was no joke, the perfectionist in him took control. Cam and his mother were known in all their city's clothing stores for being menaces.
"But I trust you'll still find it in yourself to stay by my side even when you see the monster I can become."
At this point Cam grinned a bit and went over to Kal.

After all the goofing aroud Cam finally dove into the racks, to Kal he said he could either stay and watch or go to a changing room to wait. Cam was aware of Kal's size, he had told him earlier, now it was just the matter of finding the right fit. Kal had a really nice athletic, muscular build and Cam wanted to accent that so slim fit would look amazing. But Cam didn't want Kal's movements to be too restricted so modern fit was a good compromise. Regular fit was out of the question. Cam hated those squareish, baggy suits.
Cam muttered all of this to himself in French as he browsed the racks. He picked up suits and put them back, silently commenting on individual small details on each. Finally Cam managed to find three nice options for Kal to try on. The first two were standard slim fit suits, one black and red suit and dark blue and white one. The third option was jacketless and only had two-layered vest and a dress shirt. In that option the sleeves could be rolled up and Cam already did it up to the elbows, so forearms were left bare.
Cam brought these options over to Kal with a slight bounce in his step, he was happy with these picks, though he was also testing to see Kal's reactions so he could know if he could go just a but further. Cam was adventurous when it came to clothing.
"Come on Ken, don't leave Barbie waiting and show me how they look~"
Cam joked and grinned as he handed the suits to Kal.

Kal's arms were actually showing now that he had removed the jacket. Muscles and tattoos and all. He quirked an eyebrow at Cam but threw his arm around the man as he returned from stowing his jacket. "No such thing as an ugly side of you, whatever you say. But now i'm curious, dress up is only your second favorite game?" he teased as they walked together past the various racks of suits.

He wasn't going to just stand around at the changing rooms while Cam picked the suits out. He wanted to watch Cam's excitement at picking out the clothes. Even if all Kal was really doing was following him around to hold whatever he picked out. As Cam muttered to himself in some other language Kal just followed along, grinning. Cam was adorable when he was this focused. And truthfully, just a little bit scary too.

Kal looked at the three options Cam had picked out, trying to figure out which one to try on first. If Cam hadn't been there his instinct would probably have been the third option. But he was very much there with an open mind. "Of course, barbie. But i'm not plastic so I probably should step behind that curtain to drop my pants," he winked and snickered as he took the suits into one of the cubicles and pulled the curtain shut. Kal wasn't big on shopping. But he could have fun doing almost anything as long as Cam was there.

He'd decided to just try them on in the same order he'd been handed them. It took a little bit for each outfit but fortunately putting on clothing wasn't actually that difficult to accomplish. The red looked pretty good on him and though the shoulders were a little tight he could still move his arms ok. The blue suit was fine, but once Kal was wearing it the color and style just didn't really fit as well. Even as much as he was linked to the sea, that blue option still didn't work.

Finally Kal stepped back out of the changing room in the third outfit, still buttoning up the vest. His collar was also unbuttoned as they weren't taking the time to properly include a tie and all that just yet. With the sleeves rolled up his intricate tattooing from his right elbow to his wrist were visible and he posed with a bit of a flex. Each time he had come out with the clothes on he'd been more and more silly about the posing. "Well, I hope my modeling is good enough," beamed Kal as he jokingly cast his hair back with a flourish. "I can feel that you want to get a little crazy with this though. You're bouncing a little bit. Here's the deal- I'll wear pretty much whatever you want me to. Let's just have fun with this whole Ball thing." Effectively Cam had full permission to go as wild as he wanted to.

"You said it, not me. Now you have to bear every side of me."
Cam said and snickered, as Kal threw his arm around him. Cam grinned and brought his hand up to give his bicep a slight squeeze, like Kal had squeezed him earlier. Cam put his own arm around Kal as well, closing his eyes briefly and enjoying the closeness.
"And yes, second favourite. My third favourite is playing explorers, and my favourite is tag."
Cam said with a playful tone and hint of a sly smile.

What Kal said and the way he winked at Cam made him snort and as the guy turned around Cam gave him a light kick on the ass, more of a push than kick really.
"If you were plastic then I'd really want my money back. I wonder if they have a return policy of life-sized Ken dolls."
Cam joked back and snickered as well, as he waited for Kal to try on the suits. When Kal showed them to him Cam surprisingly didn't say anything, and listened to Kal's thoughts on them, snickering at the way he posed with every suit. Naturally Kal looked good on all of them, or maybe that was Cam's brain being completely smitten with Kal. But like Cam thought, sleeves just somehow didn't look good on Kal. So when he stepped out in the third option Cam's smile widened, Kal looked really good in it.

As Kal flexed in the third suit Cam stepped over and tugged on the collar a bit to straighten it. He also used the opportunity to reach up and give Kal a light, lingering kiss on the lips.
"Your modeling is perfect, and that's coming from a former professional model. Though I might be a bit biased."
Cam said and snickered a bit. The way Kal cast his hair back actually looked really nice, Cam almost wanted to take a picture. Well, maybe next time. And at the ball Cam would make Kal take enough pictures to last for several lifetimes, he was a slave to instagram like that.
It was like Kal read his mind, and Cam's smile widened even more. Kal basically surrendered himself to Cam's hands and all the power and options made Cam feel all giddy. He took Kal's face in his hands and pressed a firm kiss on both his cheeks and lips.
"I love you! I saw a great suit back there that I really want you to try, don't move!"
Cam said excitedly and with a wide grin, and spun around and speed walked over to a rack at the other end of the store. He hadn't even realized that the first part of that sentence could've been very significant, he was too excited to see how far Kal would really let him go.

Kal had flexed jsut a little bit when Cam tried squeezing it. For two reasons really. One it was funny and two, it seemed like something Cam would probably snicker at. The 'explorers' game didn't exactly ring any bells and he wasn't sure whether that was because it was a game he just didn't know about to Cam was just messing with him. Probably the latter. Tag, though he did know and he filed that away.

After they headed back to the changing rooms and made their comments about barbie and ken and whether Kal was made of plastic or not he had stumbled a bit from the kick and just grinned back at Cam. "Afraid that depends. Do you have the receipt and is the doll still in its packaging?" he had called over his shoulder as he pulled the curtain shut.

The modelling of the suits went decently, though Kal was pretty sure he looked kind of foolish doing it. He didn't care. It seemed they were pretty much in agreement that anything too restricting, apparently with special respect to his arms, just wasn't in the cards for Kal.

Kissing was in the cards though and he certainly appreciated the softness of Cam's lips as he leaned into their lingering kiss. He was tempted to wrap his arms around Cam and pull him in closer but he was dressed up in clothes that weren't his and he didn't want to have too much of a problem with the clerk. He'd seemed pretty annoyed already.

But of course Cam made that worrying unnecessary as he immediately pulled Kal in for a few more rapid kissed across his cheeks and lips before excitedly hurrying off towards the racks. Before Kal could even really react properly. Cam had said he loved Kal, but it hadn't sunk in just yet. He was too focused on watching his boyfriend zoom off on some kind of crazy mission into the jungle of suits and other formal wear.

What on earth would he come up with now that he had free reign to pick anything he wanted for Kal to try on? He chuckled to himself and then did exactly what Cam had asked of him. He made like a human statue, with his arms out like he was reaching for something or someone. And his eyes closed just so he didn't need to keep them open. He was waiting for Cam to come back and then he could tag him with a kiss right back. Cam had mentioned hat tag was his favorite game right? Only his kiss wouldn't be quick. The clerk would just have to mind his own business.

While Cam was looking for the suit he had mentioned he slowly realized what exactly he had said and blushed heavily. Thankfully Kal wasn't there to see that and Cam could wallow in shame and embarrassment all he wanted. Those three words had just slipped, and Cam was probably making too big of a deal out of it. But Cam hadn't said "I love you" to anyone aside from his family and friends for years, the last boyfriend he had said it to was in 8th grade and that had been jokingly. Had he said it jokingly this time? Cam didn't know, maybe. Hopefully Kal took it like that. Or maybe Kal wouldn't freak out like an idiot like Cam was doing. Just brushing it off was a normal reaction, or at least Cam suspected it was.
Cam sighed and let his head sink and lean towards a suit rack. He was too much in his own head again. He shook it off and continued browsing the racks, looking for more...bold choices for Kal to try on.

It took only about 5 minutes for Cam to find three more options for Kal, all vest suits, and from the way back to the dressing rooms he picked up a black top hat that Cam planted on his own head to keep. It would go with all the outfits, thankfully.
Cam danced on over back to Kal, and snorted when he saw that Kal had really not moved like Cam had asked, still frozen in the position from before.
"Wow, how obedient. Good to know you can follow orders."
Cam said with a joking tone and stepped over to Kal, within reach of the arms that were still reaching for something. But before Kal could grab anything Cam took the top hat off his own head and set it on Kal's, snickering.
    "I hope you're prepared, I'm just getting started~"
Cam said, holding up the suits he had picked out. The first one was red and black striped and bit punk-ish, the second one was more on the gothic side and the third one was bit of both plus had some victorian influence.
