Raella was bored. There's simply no doubt about it. After the longest slumber she's had in virtually her entire life, she sat atop her bed facing the dull wall before her, idly tapping her foot against the ground as her tail drew lazy circles in the air behind her. With a sharp exhale and a quick push off the bed, Raella finally settled on her next expedition: the arts wing. Being much more of a science student, she had never once stepped foot into what mysteries lay shrouded within the arts wing and today definitely seemed like a good day to find out.
Turning corner after corner, the little demon had finally arrived at her destination. She continued to stroll at a languid and leisurely pace, her shoulders sloped in a graceful gradient and her wings neatly tucked behind the arch of her back as she attempted to navigate her way the best she could. Letting out a quick sigh she spoke aloud, mostly to herself than anyone else given that the corridor she was strolling through was rather vacant to her knowledge.
"Man, I really thought this would be a little more exciting. I mean at least in chemistry you've got minor explosions but..." After a quick sweep of her fingers against the stale air in an exasperated gesture, she continued. "There aren't even any statues or paintings here!"
It seemed the hallways were not as empty as Raella initially thought. A fervent blush slowly spread throughout her cheeks as the slow realization dawned on her that someone had caught her talking to herself. "I... uh" She stammered out, in pitch much too high for her liking as she pivoted on her right foot to make a swift turn to face the other.
Instantly greeted by the sight of a young petite female who couldn't be past the age of 11, her initial embarrassment slowly but surely intensified. Tilting her chin ever so slightly downwards in order to establish proper eye contact, Raella let out a cough to steady herself and quickly slip into her usual composure. It seemed that the young child before her was a little reserved, even timid perhaps thus she hoped that her initial shock did not startle her. Willing her tone to come off smoothly and stabilizing her voice to it's usual collected pitch, she then addressed the girl once more.
"Ah, I'm not really in need of assistance as I was just wandering around this area out of boredom... Say, what's someone as young as you doing here? Are you an arts student?"
"Well, alrighty." Lavender says softly, looking her left (she was too shy to make proper eye contact). "And..." Lavender turns her head to Raella again "I'm an arts student. I was just going to the computer lab."
Raella noticed Lavender purposely avoid eye contact in a way that can only be described as "precious". Not wanting to scare what she presumed was a faint-hearted girl, she softened her posture as much as possible - knees slightly bent as she shortened her frame to face the other. With the most soothing voice she could muster, Raella then replied: "Oh! I didn't expect to meet an arts student as young as you, could you stay for a while and tell me a little more about what it's like?" Pausing for a moment, she realized the possibility that Lavender could have places to be and things to do thus she quickly added in "But if you're busy at the moment, I understand completely!"
"Well, no, I'm not really busy. And sure, I can tell you." Lavender says, words struggling to get out of her mouth. "Actually, a lot of people come here to the arts wing to..."
Learning the arts would be a bland, and cliche, answer.
Enjoying everything would go too far, and it doesn't look like a good answer.
Doing things that they are passionate about is a good answer, Lavender thinks.
"...to do things they are passionate about."
As she speaks to 12th grade student -despite that she's in 4th grade-, her confidence opens up, and it could be seen through her eyes.
"I'm passionate about photography and computers, so I come here often."
Raella noticed the other slowly shift into a front of timidness to assertiveness and confidence - like a snail coming out of its shell or a flower bud to full bloom. Though there was a slight hint of hesitation as Lavender was speaking, Raella brushed it off and hoped that the young girl would eventually be more comfortable as the conversation pursued.
I'm passionate about photography and computers, so I come here often.
Now if that wasn't adorable, Raella didn't know what was. Almost instantly, her gaze softened while her tone of voice conveyed her enthusiasm as she continued to address Lavander. "That is so cool! Do you do things like photo edit? Oh, oh, do you photograph nature? I love nature!"
There it was, Raella had found herself another nature lover! Excitement rippled forth from deep within her gut, visible through her intensifying grin and rhythmically swaying tail. Never would she have expected to find someone with such an interest in her random venture to the arts wing, much less in a being easily half her age!
With very little thought put in, Raella pretty much blurted out the next sentence, her words laced with enthusiasm and eagerness. "Oh my goodness that is so cool! Do you happen to have a few photos right now to show me?" Not wanting to appear rude, the demon then quickly added in "That is if you're comfortable with showing me your work. No intention here to force you or anything!"
"Hm..." Lavender thinks.
She puts her backpack down softly, opens it, and shuffles it like a child opening a Christmas present. It didn't take long to find a photo.
"Sorry... I'm pretty new at this."
Lavender shows a blurry photo of an Hydrangea, she took it at her 3rd try of taking a photo. Despite the blurriness, it was clear that it's an Hydrangea; square "flowers" making the shape of a hemisphere.
