Fenrir let out a low growl as the girl patted his head. He did not like to be touched by strangers or belittled like he was a mere pet. The glare and baring of teeth showed that it would not end well for Alex if it happened again.

Aeron turned around at the sound of laughter. Was it aimed at him? He looked down at the t-shirt that came down to his knees; obviously it was too big for him, though he didn't really consider that he had a choice. Ridiculing what someone had made seemed rude and he did not want to upset the shopkeeper.

He accepted the identical top that she handed him, though he presumed that this was probably better suited for him, along with some pants. Wandering into the changing rooms, he found an empty cubicle to try on the clothes. He had never seen a mirror so big. His mother used to own a handheld one, though that was old and worn. Looking at himself, it was clear that he needed to wipe the grime off of himself and that he had changed more than he thought. Living in the forest, he would rarely see his reflection, occasionally catching a glimpse in a pool of water, though not spending the time to look properly.

After putting on the clothes that were handed to him, Aeron looked to see how they fit. The t-shirt was much better and not a tear in sight, though the jeans were just too restrictive. How could anyone hunt and climb trees in them? Preferring the loose fitting rags that he had on before, he took the jeans off but was satisfied with the top, sliding the familiar pants back on.

Wandering back out to Alex, leaning against a wall, he handed the jeans back to her with a small, impish smile. "Thank you but they are too tight," he explained.

With a sigh she took the clothes back off him, muttering "they're skinny jeans, they're meant to be tight. It's called fashion". Flinging out her arm in a grand gesture, she pointed to the rail of jogging bottoms. "Here, these are more loose fitting," Alex told him as she threw him a pair in a small enough size and pointing to the changing room again.

Wandering off, she took a look around the store herself, picking up a couple of other, fairly plain T-shirts in the same size and put them on the counter, waiting for Aeron to appear again. Alex hummed to herself for a while before growing bored and wandered over to the changing rooms and asking "so whats the deal with you anyway, where did you come from, why are you here?"

Aeron was grateful for the help Alex was providing but the whole concept of fashion was lost on him. What purpose did looking nice serve? Surely restricting your movement was not an attractive thing here. Garments such as 'jeans' would aid no one when it came to climbing trees. Luckily, the pants that were thrown at him appeared to be less constraining.

Wandering back into the changing room, he tried on the jogging bottoms. They seemed to be a much better fit with enough room to move around in. A voice came from behind the curtain as he was trying them on. "I am from the forest but now I have been brought here." It was a fairly vague answer but that was all he knew his home by. 'The forest' was all he ever knew it by.

Catching himself in the mirror, he began to inspect himself. He had not seen his reflection in years and he barely recognized himself. So much had changed over time. There were no mirrors in the woodlands so the only reflections he ever saw were those when he looked into a pool of water. Though, his form danced and distorted whenever he looked. It always made it more awkward when he would use an arrowhead to shorten the longer strands of hair on his head. Now, it was as clear as day.

Happy with the clothes he now adorned, he exited the changing room and was on his way to the exit. A thought held him back. The girl said the clothes needed to be paid for. "What do they require me to do as payment?" He hoped that it was nothing too bad that he needed to do in return.

"Ohh, the forest," she said, slightly sarcastically, "I know exactly where you mean. Totally. Not like there's thousands of forests all over the world or anything." Shaking her head in exasperation, she watched as he walked out, already wearing the new clothes and walking to the door. Suppressing a giggle she went and pulled the tags off his clothes and taking them over to the till to be scanned so he could keep the items on. Still trying not to laugh, she looked him dead in the face, "Well, the most common payment round these parts is for you to do a dance to entertain the shopkeeper. If it is good enough, he will let you leave. If, however, you fail to entertain, you are kept as a slave here until you repay your debts."

Leaving him with that thought for a moment, she walked over to the rail of similar jogging bottoms, shaking with silent laughter, and picked up a couple of extra pairs for him. Putting them on the counter as well, she turned to Aeron with a grin, "I was only joking, Aeron, don't worry yourself about it. We have money and that's what we use to pay. He'll scan the items in with this thing..." She reached over and grabbed the bar-code scanner, showing it to him and then scanned one of the many items to show him (much to the shopkeepers annoyance). "Then, it adds up how much everything costs based on the information these little black bars give the computer and that's how much you pay. Easy!"

With that, she turned and payed for all his clothes, shoving them into a bag and handing it to him.
"Come on, grab Fen and we'll go see if we cant get you somewhere to live." She paused at the door, turning around to face him and pulling a face "Also, maybe a shower or something."

"Oh, you have heard of it?" Aeron was surprised. In all of the years he had lived amongst the thicket, he had never laid eyes on another person. The sarcastic undertone was not picked up by him at all. In fact, it was an entirely new concept, just as almost everything around him now was. He considered himself lucky that he had a person like Alex to help him, otherwise, he would be totally bewildered by it all.

After explaining what was required in order to keep the clothing, Aeron wore a worried expression as she wandered off. He needed to dance for the shopkeeper? Aeron had never danced in his life. Especially not in front of an audience. His eyes looked over at the person who would be watching him and then back at Alex a few times. It seemed like a strange thing to do in return for purchasing goods.

Learning that she was not being serious, Aeron was relieved. Was that something people did here too: lie to each other for amusement. Without saying anything, he just watched and listened as she ripped the tags off and scanned them, taking in the information. He had so many questions but before he got a chance to have them answered, Alex was already on her way out.

He looked up at her and nodded. "Thank you for your help," he greeted. Though only knowing her a short time, she seemed like a nice person. "Fenrir and I are quite happy living in a forest if there is one nearby." It was the way it had been for years and it was the way he liked it.
