Appearance Description:

Sword form: A 3'6" long (tip to pommel) sword with a single edged blade of black and silver. Simple, yet menacing. Currently tarnished due to poor living conditions and improper care.

Imp form: A 3'6" tall imp with a body made of black and purple. Glowing green jagged eyes, two long horns and stark white short hair. A mouth of grinning, gleaming white teeth arranged in tight rows. Their hands have long claws instead of fingers and rather than feet they have sharp barbed points to balance on. Their "skin" can be either soft, squishy and velvety or sharp and hardened like steel.

They typically dress in a hood and tunic or robe complete with a small cape and loose-legged breeches. Their clothing is adorned by marks identifying them as a demonic servant or weapon, with their "house" sigil among the marks. They have no need for footwear.

Personality Description: Sharpe is a sword and very much wants to be used, whether in actual combat or in whatever other role desired by whomever pacts with them. They are ornery though and will become more and more difficult to handle if they are not tended to and cared for properly. Or if they grow bored and start to feel unused or forgotten. Aside from that they are generally quick-witted and impish. Currently they are a little unhappy and grouchy.


Active Abilities:

  • Not Just a Blade- Sharpe can shift between being either a 3.5' long sword or they can be in their imp form. While in either form they can shift their entire "body" or just specific parts to have either the properties of solid, exceptionally well balanced and sharpened steel, or a softer and squishy, velvety material. They retain their sentience and senses in both forms. Being fully shifted to steel means they cannot move their limbs at all. Shifting does not heal any damage taken while in either form.
  • Why Walk?- In either form Sharpe can float up to 4' above any solid surface and "fly" at a normal human walking or running speed.
Passive Abilities:
  • Swords are Simple- Sharpe requires no food, water, sleep or breathing in either form
  • Midnight Forge- Sharpe does not bleed from injuries or heal at all until the stroke of midnight, then all damage done to them is restored over the course of an hour.
  • Bein' A Tool- Sharpe is completely immune to any and all magical effects- even those that would normally bypass such resistance, but not any physical damage they might cause. For example a dragon's fire breath wouldn't affect them and neither would a mind reading ability, but summoning boulders and throwing them at Sharpe would cause damage as appropriate for the physical object striking them. To supernatural senses they appear to ping as simply a sword.
  • Deflect Their Magic- While wielded as a sword by their pacted wielder Sharpe automatically confers some amount of protection- magical effects are only half as effective/damaging on the wielder. This ends if they are not currently being wielded or they have been damaged enough to become inanimate.
Weaknesses:
  • Bound to an owner's Fist- Upon agreeing to a pact with a wielder to serve them, a bond is formed between Sharpe and their 'wielder'. This is unbreakable from that point on by Sharpe and it allows the wielder to summon them, or they will automatically teleport there if the wielder is in physical danger. Sharpe cannot move further than 1 mile from their wielder or they automatically teleport back to them regardless of what Sharpe was doing at the time. Summoning them requires uttering their True Name and the pact is formed by the spilling of a wielder's blood upon the blade, offering a token of significant sacrifice to Sharpe's demonic "house", and a binding promise to care for Sharpe. They cannot exist outside of Hell for more than a week without a pacted wielder.
  • Torn Asunder, For Now- If 49% or more of Sharpe's form is destroyed or removed from the rest at any point then they will "die", turning back into an inanimate (broken) sword, and cannot reform until the next midnight. Their wielder must also spill their own blood on the blade to start that "resurrection".
  • Tarnishing- Sharpe's current wielder is not paying enough attention to them or caring for them properly and as such their sword form looks slightly rusty and their imp form has the dexterity and strength of an elderly human. Frank- the NPC wielder is currently calling Sharpe away from what they want to do for inane things like fetching beer.

Biography:
Deep in one version of the Wrath and Envy Hells there was a desire for more interesting weapons, sentient tools, to be forged. Several small "houses" of imps decided that was their chance to rise above their lowly status. After all, better to be held up by the hands of the powerful than suffer beneath their crushing feet.

Sharpe was one such Imp that was inexorably fused with a newly forged blade. In essence they were now that blade and that blade was now also an imp. They served many wielders over many years, more than they even care to remember. Through the years occasionally a human managed to summon them but mostly it was demons.

Ultimately though their last wielder grew tired of Sharpe and discarded them for another weapon. And they lay dormant for an unknown time until they were summoned again. This time by an individual on the small island of Manta Carlos. Time to be wielded again. Except Frank, this wash-up of a fighter has taken advantage of the pact. Originally he offered a pile of wealth for the sacrifice and promised glorious battles in the arena. But it was a last-ditch attempt to make a career comeback and Sharpe has since stopped cooperating with the drunkard.

In fact they are subtly searching for someone better to take over the pact.

Sharpe has only the clothing they came with and they live in the run-down apartment of their current (NPC) wielder- Frank the washed-up drunk.

Notable Features: Long pointed horns, sharp claws and barbed points for "feet". A mouth full of sharp grinning white teeth. Glowing green, jagged eyes.

Physical Quirks: Their green eyes flash slightly when excited and they are often seen floating because their "feet" aren't designed well for walking. Currently fairly slow moving due to tarnishing under the care of their current wielder

Abilities Summary: Shifts between soft/comfy and sharp steel. Has a sword and imp form. Immune to magical effects, even those that normally bypass such resistance. They will ping as being just a sword. Can float. Will not heal until midnight, with additional requirements.

Reputation: Those familiar with the arena might know of Sharpe's wielder- Frank. He's a washed up drunkard who somehow managed to get a decent blade a few months back. Sharpe probably could help him win more but they don't care to. There have been hilarious fights where Sharpe turns their sword form into a soft cushiony material instead of steel just to spite Frank. They do win just enough to keep a (poor) living for Frank.

Misc Information: Is bound by a demonic pact to Frank. Is most definitely looking to replace the pact with someone better.
