Meadow hadn't been in this realm for long, now. It was all so fresh and new, with so many exciting things to discover still, that a week seemed to go by far more quickly than it had back where she used to live. And she preferred it that way, she didn't want a single dull moment in her life, and she didn't want a single moment that would force her to stop and think...

    Think about...

    What happened...

But once a week, she had no choice but to do nothing. Once a week, the nymph headed to the woods in search of a meadow, to commune with nature. Her biology compelled her and she could do nothing else but listen, and it was here in a meadow that she was lost in thought. The world was quiet, the only sounds being the chirping of birds and the singing of insects in the summer heat. The meadow had been sparse of flowers, but as Meadow walked through the field and began to commune with nature, a trail of flower began to blossom in her footsteps.

    It was peaceful.

    Too peaceful.

She didn't like to be alone. She didn't want to think about what had happened. She didn't want to remember.

Noel walked quietly through the woods towards a clearing in the distance. His mind buzzing with all that had happened in the past few days. His chance meeting with the young law student had stirred up memories of long ago. Memories that had brought rushing back an odd assortment of feelings, like wistfulness and regret, to the forefront. Feelings he had buried over time, and the unleashing of them had made Noel unsettled. Like Theo with David, Noel realised, he missed his precious Aslog.

They say you never really forget your first love, and Noel found that, despite the centuries, the millennia, he still missed Aslog, her laugh, her smile and her kind, loving nature... Maybe it was because they never got time to grow old together? Maybe it was those "what ifs"? Whatever it was, Noel found himself reminiscing about those times.

Ducking under a tree branch, Noel looked down and couldn't help but notice a trail of wildflowers that lead out towards clearing and the open meadow. Following the flowers, he suddenly remembered how much Aslog had loved flowers, the house had always been full of water glasses and tiny vases full of daisies, bluebells, daffodils and snapdragons.

After a short walk, Noel came to the opening to the meadow, where he spotted a small figure, a woman, sitting among the flowers in the distance. The scene was so vaguely familiar, a huge sense of deja vu came over him, and suddenly he felt his breath catch in his throat, a knot.. it couldn't be. "Aslog...?" he murmured, not sure he wasn't dreaming, or it was just wishful thinking.

Meadow had been lost in her thoughts and memories that she hadn't heard a stranger approaching, but her fluffy ears twitched at the sound of a word, a human word being spoken quietly. It was only thanks to how quiet it was in the meadow that she was able to hear the murmured word at all.

She turned her head around, looking for the source of the noise when she saw it -- him.

She leapt to her feet, her tail puffed up and her body shaking as she realized what she was looking at. It was a man, older than many, and those memories that had been thick in her mind were now at the forefront of her emotions. All the feelings she'd been feeling about the god she'd murdered were now projected onto this stranger, and she was consumed with feelings of apprehension, fear, and hatred.

"Who ar-- I am a murderer," she said, and she tsk'd quietly at herself as the words that she was forced to say came spilling out of her mouth in place of the question she'd wanted to ask. She took a deep breath and then began again, "Who are you and why are you following me?"

Her puffed up tail was twitching back and forth like a frightened animals would, even though her voice tried to sound brave. She didn't want him to know how scared she was, even though her ears were pressed down against the top of her head.

Noel stepped back, alarmed at the fact he had frightened the young nymph when she suddenly stood up and spoke to him, her whole body language that of a woodland animal that was ready to bolt in fear. He certainly hadn't meant to frighten her. He had been so lost in thought, and the idea of Aslog, that he hadn't even considered the idea that the person in the meadow wasn't a "person" . or Aslog.

In fact, if he had been paying attention, Noel may have noticed the slight differences between a human girl, woman, and a woodland nymph - even at a distance, he should have been able to tell. Even though, it had been many, many years since he last saw a nymph. He should have known and been able to tell. So in his mind, there was no excuse for the confusion, nor for the fact that he had obviously caused her distress.

"I am very sorry. Forgive my intrusion." Noel said in a respectful and apologetic tone.

"I am Noel, Noel Sinterklass, god of the Winter Solstice at your service," Noel stated in a very respectful way. "And I was not following you. I was merely lost in thought, and I thought you were somebody I knew," he told the nymph honestly.

The fact that he was so calm and friendly rather than cruel and clearly dangerous would've been enough to calm her at least a little bit, but then he introduced himself as a god and that was enough for her to feel even more terrified.

Meadow was not one to carry weapons, and even if she could she didn't think she was really capable of self defense. The only time she'd ever hurt someone was when she'd been defending someone else, after all...

She swallowed, wringing her hands together, eyes shifting nervously as she wondered what she should to to get out of here. Run away? But she really wasn't that fast... Attack? She didn't even have claws...

"U-Um... who did you think I was?" she asked nervously, avoiding eye contact in fear he'd somehow get the idea that he should command her to do something.

Careful about not getting too close, Noel walked over to a large rock a few feet away and sat down, keeping a respectable distance from the nymph, she clearly did not trust him, and he couldn't quite blame her. He had intruded on her.

Not too surprised at her question, Noel smiled kindly as he answered evenly, "Well, I thought you were Aslog. She was my first love, my wife. She loved flowers... loved laying in the middle of fields of daffodils and bluebells, her favourite flowers, and watching the clouds go by." he said with a gentle gaze at the nymph. "She would lay there for hours on end, sometimes she'd even fall asleep and I'd have to come and find her..." he said, eyes twinkling at the happy memory.

"She was not very much taller than you actually, but with light golden hair that often caught the sun in a way that it looked almost silvery white, and the bluest eyes, they were like the sky on a clear day... " Noel explained as he smiled warmly at the nymph, hoping to put her at ease.

"Do you come to this place often?" Noel asked her, as his gaze and attention were drawn to a butterfly that flitted around him, and then landed on his knee.

He was sitting down. Which meant he planned to stay. Which put Meadow in the very awkward position of realizing that she really was stuck with this man until he decided he was bored with her and left.

He seemed content to tell her about his wife, and... well, his words seemed to be gentle and warm. Whatever he was telling her, it was genuine. Maybe he wasn't a bad person...?

"Yes," she answered honestly, though she wished she could've have said No. She had no choice in the matter. She felt sick to her stomach. She'd thought she'd be alone here.

He'd completely ignored her when she'd said she was a murderer, which was unusual. Most people had some kind of reaction, even if just to hesitate before their next sentence.

"I-I've never seen you here before," she stuttered.

Noel smiled kindly at the nymph's question and shrugged. "I come here sometimes, not as often as I used to..." he admitted as he now looked around the clearing as if he was seeing it for the first time - then he nodded to himself, glad, the glade hadn't changed much over the years.

"Truthfully, it has been a while...probably years now, maybe a decade..." he added thoughtfully. As a god, the passage of time was not a thing he thought much about at times unless somebody, like right now, pointed it out to him.

"And you? Is this your home? Am I trespassing, perhaps?" Noel asked curiously as he looked at the pretty little nymph.

Meadow shook her head. She felt very small right now, and she wondered if she looked as small as she felt. "No," she answered truthfully. "I'm just... here for the day."

It was the honest answer, but she didn't reveal that she came here at least once a week. She didn't want him to get any ideas about bumping into her again.

The more she talked to him, though, the less frazzled she felt. Her bushy tail was starting to lower, and the urgent feeling of danger was beginning to just start to subside.

She stared at him wordlessly, unable to find the words to make conversation.

Noel nodded kindly at her words, noticing her shyness, hesitation and knowing that he had caused it somehow. Hoping to put her at ease, Noel remained where he was and just smiled warmly at her.

"The glade is a good place to think, to spend time, to recharge one's energy... " he said with an understanding nod as his gaze strayed to some tiny pink flowers he had not noticed before.

"Have you ever noticed all the different things around us? The little things? That one might not notice?" he asked moving away from the personal questions, "Like those tiny pink flowers over there. I had never noticed them til now. They remind me of a tiny crocus." Noel said as he gestured to a patch of flowers near her.
