Luckily, it was not raining anymore, and the day seemed like it would probably now stay sunny and clear - at least for the next little while - as Monday waited patiently outside the main doors of the MCI public library for his assistant, Candle, to arrive.

The two of them were going to check the place out for any books or manuscripts that might have been written or owned by her first master, and the one who had summoned her to this plane, Grostman. Monday knew the possibilities of finding another book on the island was scarce, however, the fact that the spell books existed, and could fall into innocent hands, worried the witch more than it should.

Ever since his family's one curse had taken both his mom and his sister, especially his sister, in such an unexpected way, made Monday very aware of the fact that bad things happened when you least expected them to happen, and that was why he wanted to make sure that - the bad, which could (hopefully) be prevented - didn't appear one day to take away or hurt a loved one like it had in the past.

Each raindrop ate at her fire like burrowing worms so it was relief that the rains from earlier have now subsided. The sun shown through the clouds and its warm felt invigorating to them. But now was the time that be they and their master Monday to investigate the library. He was the first to arrive but Monday didn't have to wait long as Candle shortly arrived by his side.

"I have arrived Monday. Shall we head inside? I believe the first order of business would be to speak with the librarians whom may be helpful in our search." informed Candle as they looked to their companion. Candle honestly doubted that these librarians would helpful nor were they expecting their investigation to bear much fruit. Grostman had written many books the passage of time so many centuries ago would mean most of them would be lost or destroyed. Yet... the discovery in Monday's collection does bring up the possibility that there may be few more out here on this island.

"That sounds like a good place to begin," Monday said as he held the door open for Candle to enter first. "I have no idea where to start, and while I could try a summoning spell. I have the feeling the books are protected against that," he said as they entered into the library, where they were hit with the typical smell of old paper, leather bindings, and of books in general.

"Do you know if he ever used a pseudonym?" Monday asked Candle as the two of them approached the counter where an old librarian was sorting books to be put away.

"I can only imagine so. Grostman was always mindful of any conceivable way for someone to steal his findings without his knowledge." mentioned Candle as they step inside. While Monday was struck with the scent musky of books, Candle would look around to better appreciate the size of the library now that they were inside. One look and it was clear that they were going to be here for awhile.

"None to my my knowledge, only signing correspondences as the Grandmaster of the Hermetic Society of the Occult. Otherwise he would be insistent on putting is name on his precious books and tombs that he wrote." answered Candle, having to think back for a moment to all of the times they would have stood over Grostman and he penned his papers.

Glancing at Candle, giving her an understanding nod, Monday then turned his attention to the librarian.

"Excuse me, ah," here he glanced down at her name tag," Ms. Bishop," he started politely, having no idea whether she was married, single or widowed. "Would you happen to know if you have any books by a man called, Grostman, or about the Hermetic Society of the Occult?" he inquired hopefully.

"Grostman?" she said, pursing her lips together as she looked Monday over, "And what else? The Hermetic Society of the Occult?" she remarked, thinking both author and title sounded odd but not. Were they medieval writers, she wondered.

"Let me check," she said then as she went to check the card catalog.

Candle stood close to Monday as Ms. Bishop looked through the card catalog. The librarian seemed uncertain as she searched through the catalog.

"There are several Authors with the last name of Grostman. Do you have a first name?" asked the librarian

"Herman. Herman Grostman. Grandmaster of the Hermetic Society of the Occult from the mid 14th century." snappily replied Candle.

"Mhrmm okay. That helps narrows it down." replied Ms. Bishop, whom after a more diligent search. After looking through the catalog, there rest a grimace on her face as she then rely the results to them "We have no books or materials by Herman Grostman I am afraid. We do however have some scholarly books on the subject of the Hermetic Society of the Occult, along with one period piece written by one its members."

"Well it would appear that none of Grostman's writings held here then. But if you think these books about the Hermetic Society then it may be useful to check them out." mentioned Candle, offering the suggestion if Monday felt there was something to be gained.

When Ms. Bishop said she had some information on the "Hermetic Society of the Occult", Monday looked sharply at Candle. He had never heard of the society until Candle had mentioned them, and so, the fact that there was information here in the library made his heart beat a little faster. They might actually be onto something.

"Ms. Bishop?" Monday asked politely. "Would it be possible for my assistant and I to have a look at those books or documents or any other information you have on the Hermetic Society of the Occult?" he enquired, trying not to act as excited as he felt.

"We are doing a research paper on them and any information you could provide would be helpful," he added quickly just in case she asked them what their interest in them was.

"Ah. I see. Glad to help to be able to help with your paper. Here is where you can find the books, which just should all be within the same aisle." informed Ms as she showed where the books locations where in the library, giving the both of them a smile "Enjoy your stay at the library."

Candle would then nod in return, then looked to Monday.

"Let us find these books." was all Candle stated before she walked further into the library. While the library was expansive, they didn't have to walk to far to find the section where all the books were said to be. Glowing eyes follow the rows of books until they spot "A Correspondence of the History of the Hermetic Society of the Occult: An Insight into Secretive Societies and their Dangers". A lengthy title, as well as thick number of pages, but looked to be what they were looking for.

"Here is one of the books that Ms. Bishop recommended. Shall I bring it to you?"

Monday gestured to Candle to go first so that she was walking ahead of him and behind Ms. Bishop as the librarian lead them to the area where the tome in question was. She would know much better than he would if it was a book by Herman Grostman and so he wanted her to go first - not mentioning the fact that it just felt oddly rude for him to walk ahead of a woman like that. Maybe he was a little old-fashioned, but the idea of him being Candle's "master" or whatever he was was still a bit weird to him.

"Yes, and let's take it to the table over there," Monday suggested as he nodded at Candle, a sense of excitement buzzing in him that they had actually found a book.

Monday then walked over to a table and cleared away a little spot, making sure there was nobody around listening. Not quite satisfied though, he threw up a silencing spell around the table just in case and so that Candle and him could peruse the book together without being overheard.

Just by skimming through the pages Candle could tell this book has no association with Grostman. In fact was written hundreds of years after Grostman's death. This particular book appeared to have been a scholarly work trying detail the history of the Hermetic Society of the Occult. Why someone would go though all the effort Candle could not fathom but looking through the references the scholars whom complied this work did their dutiful research.

"I can confirm that is this is not one of Grostman's books. More of a scholarly work focused on the histories of the Hermetic Society of the Occult written during the late 19th century. Its founding, its demise, prominent members, infamous exploits." explained Candle as they slid the book over to Monday to browse through.

Should Monday look through it, they would see that there was lot content written in this book. If they looked through the table of contents they would find that most of the book is dedicated to the history of the organization, in chronological order. There are also sections that detail important members of the society, such as the list of known Grandmasters, as well as mentions to noteworthy inventions and discoveries made by this organization. There is also a list of sources as to where the author got their information, much of which old documents that were either primary or secondary sources.
