Kal was adorable when he was all flustered and fumbling after the kiss, and Cam laughed in good spirit and gave him one more peck on the cheek.
"Thanks~ I'll happily act as your target practice."
Cam chuckled, and as Kal hugged him he answered the hug the best he could. It was a great feeling to have Kal's arms around him, even if the position was a bit awkward. Cam hummed a bit in thought and then realization bloomed on his face.
Without further ado Cam went ahead and, after some scooting and moving the sushi to the side, sat between Kal's legs, so his back was against the taller man's chest. Cam still kept the blanket wrapped around them, and nudged for Kal to wrap his arms around him. Cam turned his head so he could smile up at Kal happily.
"This is much better, isn't it?"
He was confused when Cam suddenly blurted out "I know" but that confusion only lasted so long. Cam had maneuvered his way in front of Kal and now sat right there in front of him.
"Yes, this is much better," he said softly as he brushed Cam's hair off to the side and gave him a quick peck on the lips. After pulling away from the kiss he leaned forward a bit to rest his chin on Cam's shoulder and wrapped his arms around the man's chest as he looked out at the sunset. Sunsets were always so much more interesting on a partly cloudy day. All the reds and oranges dancing across the sky.
Apparently they were still living in their own little version of a romance movie. Sitting on a beach in each other's arms watching the sun set. Or course it hadn't exactly been entirely unplanned. Surfing at sunset and all. "You know Cam, i've never dated a guy before. Guess I just hadn't met the right one." His words were almost more felt than heard as their bodies were so close. Considering it was just their two wetsuits between them that wasn't too surprising.
It in all honesty felt like straight from a cheesy romance movie when Cam and Kal sat on the beach in each other's arms while watching the sunset. Well, Cam was a sucker for such movies anyway, so he happily leaned himself against Kal, and let himself drown in the happy feeling overtaking his mind. Cam had wrapped his other hand on top of Kal's hugging his chest, and with the other he was gently toying with Kal's hair. Cam was leaning his head to the side so his cheek rested against Kal's head. Cam was looking forward at the sunseg as well, but he kept glancing at Kal, as if to check he was still there.
"You know, I kind of want to try and braid our hair together sometime.'
Cam said, partly to himself, and chuckled at the idea and image of it. But he also meant it, and it showed at the playful smile he had on his face.
When Kal spoke his words Cam looked at him bit surprised, but at the same time those words warmed his heart. Kal was basically saying Cam was the right guy, or at least Cam took it like that. He smiled and nuzzled his cheek against Kal's head a bit.
"Then, I'm one hell of a lucky guy to be here with you. Thank you, for choosing me."
There was a strangely gentle and warm tone to Cam's voice when he said that, and his sincerity was clear from his expression. Kal wasn't the first guy Cam had dated, not by a long shot, but Cam could say that he felt more strongly about the man than he did about most people he had dated. Cam didn't like looking too far into the future in relationships, he lived in the moment, but he hoped this, he and Kal, would last for a while.
He was definitely still there. Warm, strong and completely and utterly overjoyed to be with Cam. As far as he was concerned Cam could play with his hair as much as he wanted. Except maybe for that. "I don't know. I can't see myself in braids, even if they do make our heads stick together," he joked as he imagined Cam and Kal actually braiding parts of their hair together into sets of braids.
Cam's gentle and genuinely warm tone when he talked about being lucky for Kal falling for him was great. Even better was the cheek that Cam kept nuzzling him with. No, he had zero regrets for feeling the way he did about Cam or for confessing it. He also knew that his mother's reaction would probably be 'oh, that's nice Kal,' before starting the mom-quisition to find out everything she could about him. If she hadn't already. Skye had mentioned that their feelings for each other hadn't exactly been well-hidden before.
"I'm going to be honest Cam, I didn't really plan past the part of telling you how I felt. Kind of just going on instinct and impulse here." He didn't want to say it but part of not planning any further had been the lurking fear that he had misread Cam's actual feelings. But that wasn't an issue any more. What happened in the future between Cam and Kal they would just have to see as it happened.
Cam hummed a bit when Kal seemed hesitant about the braids, he could tell even though Kal was joking about it. That only fueled Cam's determination though, and he decided to make it his goal to braid Kal's hair at some point. Cam grinned, and kept toying with Kal's hair with a playful look in his eye.
"I could help you see yourself in braids. Besides, you're really handsome, it'd definitely suit you."
Cam made puppydog eyes at Kal again, but he kept his tone light so Kal wouldn't feel pressured.
As Kal confessed that he didn't actually have a plan for this, for them, beyond the confessing Cam chuckled and let out a small sigh through his nose.
"That's okay, to live in the moment. I'm not exactly a planner myself. Hell, I mostly just follow my impulses. And I'm going to be honest too, I was going to keep my feelings tightly under wraps. But..."
Cam turned his head so he could smile widely at Kal.
"I like this much better. I like you. So let's just roll with the wave."
The playfulness in Cam's eyes definitely didn't go unnoticed. It was a good look on him though and he was pretty sure Cam wouldn't do anything he really didn't want. "Oh no, not the puppydog eyes, I don't think I can handle that black magic," he laughed as he squeezed his arms that were still wrapped around Cam. "We'll see about the braids, maybe. I trust your fashion sense more than mine anyway."
The talk of keeping his feelings hidden bothered Kal. He was realizing that if he hadn't been able to summon the courage to confess his own feelings to Cam they would have just gone on without all this. Both feeling like they did towards each other but not doing anything about it. That would have been horrible. He didn't know what to say about that though- he just wanted to keep enjoying the moment.
As Cam turned his head to smile at Kal he caught him with a quick kiss on the cheek. "Well I can't complain too much about following impulses since they seem to be working pretty well for both of us. But..." he trailed off as he grinned wide. He slipped his arms down further towards Cam's waist and lifted up as he leaned back and went to roll the both of them back and over onto the blanket. The plan was for him to end up on his back with Cam leaning back on him and then roll over onto his side, bringing Cam with him. In a sort of playful wrestling move that wasn't intended to hurt. "If we're on this wave we're gonna roll together." Glorious impulsive action and laughter at a weird joke felt like the right thing to do at the time.
Cam could really get used to all this affection, or more like he was well on his way to getting used to it. The kiss Kal gave his cheek made Cam's heart pleasantly race.
"Of course they're working, sometimes you just need to take the plunge and not care about the splash. And we can handle a splash, that's our thi- Woah!"
Cam let out a surprised sound, when Kal slipped his arms lower and pulled Cam up as he lowered himself onto his back on the blanket. Cam's arms flailed a bit, but he ended up safely on Kal and then further next to him. Cam turned so he was facing Kal, and after the guy finished his sentence Cam blew some hair off his own face and looked at him with a grin.
"I'll roll anywhere with you, if that means more moments like this and bad puns."
Cam laughed along with Kal, but meant every word he said.
It worked perfectly and now Cam and Kal were just lying there on the beach in the growing darkness. "Sounds good to me, though if we roll too much further we might get a little sandy," he snickered. Though he had made a joke about it, the sentiment meant a lot to Kal and he kind of wiggle-scooted his way to be as close as he could to Cam. Definitely oh so super graceful looking, he was sure.
His left arm was completely trapped under Cam's body from the rolling but he used his right hand to reach up and help brush the hair out of Cam's face. "So what are your plans for the night after this? Y'know after they kick us off the beach for causing trouble." It was still a weeknight so they probably couldn't get up to anything too crazy but Kal wasn't sure he wanted to end their date yet. And it was officially a date by that point for sure.
"When I say I'd roll anywhere I mean anywhere. Try me."
Cam said with determination and snickered, though he hoped they could save rolling in the sand for some other time when Cam's hair and bodu weren't damp. But if he had his hair safely dry and proper clothes on? Bring it on.
Cam snuggled close to Kal when he oh, so gracefully moved closer in kind. Not that Cam cared about it looking graceful, he just wanted to be close to Kal, and that he could be now as Cam was pressed against Kal's chest.
The guy had magnificent pecs.
Cam puckered his lips to a fake thoughtful expression, and hummed a bit when Kal asked whether he had anything after they were thrown off the beach.
"Well, lets see, first I have a lunch date with the cactus on my window sill and then I was thinking of watching rupaul's drag race while hugging my pillow. Such a busy evening."
Cam snorted a bit and grinned at Kal.
"I'm all yours. And even if I had had some plans they'd have been wiped right off."
"Oh man, you sure your cactus won't mind you cheating on him with me? I guess you can always reschedule if he doesn't complain too loudly," Kal snickered and then kissed Cam. No missing that time.
"How about you help me lug all this stuff back to my place, we get something delivered and chill on my couch for a while. I've got a pillow you can hug and everything." It would probably mean his mom meeting Cam once they got there. There was only so much he could hide when they both lived in apartments at the Spa. And really, he didn't want to hide Cam anyway.
He'd have offered to cook something but he hadn't exactly planned for that. Normally he wouldn't have someone over to his place on a first date but.... well was it really a first date with him and Cam? It felt like really the other times they had been together should have sort of counted or something.
