Cam chuckled at what Kal said after the kiss, their faces still close together, and it felt like Cam was breathing the same air with Kal. That feeling was intoxicating and Cam had a small giddy smile on his face.
"You've got plenty of time to still miss, I'm not going anywhere. Though I think I'm going to feel like a winner for a long while even without it."
Cam's own hair was still on a ponytail on his back, and he kinda wanted to mess Kal's hair up even more and comb his hair through it. Cam looked back at Kal's face when he spoke, and the yet another new nickname at the end made him laugh and snicker.
"Firefox? I'm an internet explorer now?"
Cam said with a grin, still chuckling, and gave in to the urge and reached up to play with Kal's hair a bit.
"Maybe it was my magic coffee that did the trick. My master plan worked."
Cam continued and giggled a bit, referencing to the way they had met in the first place. Cam wondered how they would be now if Cam hadn't offered to make coffee for Kal, or if his arm wouldn't have been messed up in the first place.
Cam didn't want to know, he was happy right where he was.
Cam had a small sly smile on his face when he raised a brow at Kal letting Cam pick which sushi he ate next. Cam gave Kal one more peck on the lips before he leaned over to the sushi container and picked out another wasabi sushi. But before he gave it to Kal Cam put mayo on top of it, enough to take off the edge from the wasabi. Cam held it out for Kal with a grin.
"It's actually pretty good, try it. And if you choke again you can always splash yourself with some more water."
Cam said and chuckled.
"Ah but Internet Explorer is the standard thing that only boring old people keep around. Firefox is the fun one that you actually want to surf with." Kal leaned his head a little to make it easier for Cam to play with his hair a bit. Yeah, he was definitely going to keep kissing him. On target or not. Probably a few "accidental" misses just because they had talked about it.
Kal thought back to that day, ignoring the pain from his arm and difficulty sleeping, and focused on how great it had been to sit there and have Cam make him a cup of coffee. An extremely simple thing that could have been completely meaningless and yet it was so memorable. If that hadn't been what got the ball rolling on them getting together then it certainly helped pave the way. "I guess it must have had some sort of effect. Coffee, spills, and terrible puns- that's us."
He gladly accepted that peck on the lips, his head moving forward a tiny bit after Cam pulled away as if he wanted more. And he absolutely did, but it just meant the next one would be even better. Kal was fairly certain it was going to be more wasabi. He wouldn't have thought mayo would taste good- it seemed a little bit weird. But he leaned forward and ate the sushi right out of Cam's fingers.
It clearly still had an effect and he coughed and made faces all the same but it was more bearable that time. He did put his hand up to start pouring some water in. The simple turkey, bacon and cheese sandwiches he had packed n his cooler were forgotten in the haze of wasabi and kissing. He held Cam nice and close as he recovered a little bit from the spiciness. His feet had still been in the sand because they hadn't been cleaned off yet but he took the moment to make water come out of them and wash off. With them clean he could curl up a little bit more and be more comfortable. "Want me to get your feet too? Promise it won't be cold," he grinned. Like he was even capable of anything cold. He was aware that Cam had only one "real" foot but that didn't mean he wouldn't clean the other one off for him too.
Cam straight up laughed at Kal's words, and flipped some of the guy's hair on his face while grinning.
"Sure you can surf with me, but like we saw earlier even I can crash and lag."
While Kal had some hair in front of his eyes Cam took the opportunity to kiss his cheek. Cam chuckled and reached back to pull his own hair free of the ponytail. The hair was still damp and as Cam shook his head a bit it was longer than Kal's and much more straight and smooth.
Cam also took a moment to remember the day Kal had walked into community center his arm all bandaged up, and it had been just sad looking at him trying to make coffee for himself. Cam had never been happier for making coffee for someone.
"I wouldn't have it any other way. You took quite the spill in my life and I hope you stain in it for a while."
Cam snickered at his bad puns, but like Kal had said, they were their thing.
Cam laughed more openly and heartily at Kal's wasabi suffering this time, since he had taken it on voluntarily and had the mayo to soften the blow. Cam was comfortably snuggled up to Kal, stroking his back a bit as he coughed, and though he still felt a chill Kal's closeness helped a lot. A blanket would've made it perfect, and Cam had one in his bag. But before he reached for it Cam detached his prosthetic leg, he'd have to dry it off a bit or Morgan would have his head.
Cam pretended to consider Kal's suggestion and hummed in thought, setting his head on Kal's shoulder. He grinned and wiggled the toes on the fleshy foot.
"Well, if you promise it won't be cold. This foot is sensitive."
Cam patted the prosthetic he had on his lap, insinuating it was the sensitive one, and chuckled. Cam lifted it and held it so Kal could was it, the foot part was indeed a bit sandy.
After Kal would finish washing Cam's feet, hopefully without any shenanigans, he would set the prosthetic aside, pull out a blanket from his bag and drape it on their shoulders. Cam would snuggle up to Kal and smile up at him.
"You know, you haven't fed me a single sushi roll. We should right this wrong."
Kal resisted the urge to just blow his hair back out of his face, figuring Cam had a plan. Sure enough next thing he knew the guy was kissing him on the cheek. After enjoying that little surprise he did blow some of the hair out of the way just in time to see Cam releasing his own hair from the ponytail. Long and smooth, and perfect for running his fingers through once he finished with everything else.
"Stain it for a while? Please, this wave is gonna keep rolling for a long time. And i'll catch ya if you start to fall," he snickered at his own attempts. Wordsmith he was not, but it was the sentiment he hoped that got through.
After the wasabi Kal was glad for the chance to avoid the spice for moment and clean off the sand. He looked down at the prosthetic leg and chuckled. "Oh, of course. I'll make sure to give it the same massage as the other one gets." Sure enough he washed both feet off and gave them a little bit of a massage while doing so. The prosthetic one was a little more of a mime than a real massage but the other one was real.
As Cam curled up and draped the blanket around them it was like the final step in solidifying the fact that they were together. Well, at least one of the final steps- there were other things that might come later on. He squinted at Cam as he mentioned the sushi. "I did just feed you one and wash your feet afterwards," he joked and gave him a squeeze. "But I guess it is my turn to serve so..." That time he didn't go for one of the wasabi infused rolls and went to feed it to Cam. No tricks or pranks. For the moment.
Between their two bodies and the ever-present warm air around Kal it was nice and warm in their little blanket tent there on the beach.
Cam appreciated those words more than Kal could imagine. That he'd catch Cam if he started to fall. Cam wanted to give a strong impression of himself, and he was strong, but at the same time knowing someone was there for him, that Cam didn't have to be strong constantly, was an immense relief.
Cam smiled a grateful smile and gave Kal a brief squeeze with the arm he had around him.
"I'll be counting on you then. And I promise to try and keep myseld from crashing."
Cam grinned a bit at the end.
Cam got cozy and warmed up quickly thanks to the massage Kal gave both his feet, and the mime one he gave Cam's prosthetic made him snicker.
When Kal said he had already fed Cam sushi he squinted at the guy, though there was still humour in his expression.
"That wasn't feeding, that was an attack with a mass murder weapon. No one was left alive in here. Though I think the mouth to mouth afterwards revived some."
Cam chuckled at his bad analogy, and happily ate the normal sushi Kal gave him. And naturally Cam ate it straight out of his hands. It was good, even if Cam did say so himself. He reached for his water bottle and shook it at Kal, grinning.
"Could you fill this up for me? And if you make it salty I won't let you try and not miss my mouth for the rest of this date."
Cam snickered a bit, honestly he wanted to kiss Kal too much to go through with that threat but Kal didn't know that.
The return squeeze was really appreciated and Kal's chuckles rumbled through his chest. "I hope so. But getting back up is the most important part of falling and you seem pretty good at that." Cam was pretty damn strong from what Kal could tell and as much as he was ready to be the uh knight to his damsel, it was comforting to know that the damsel was plenty strong enough to take care of him too if he needed it.
Kal shifted his position a little bit as his legs had been starting to fall asleep. Whether by accident or intention his leg bumped against Cam's a little. "Well let me know if you need more resuscitation. Wouldn't want any mass murdering going on in there." After Cam ate the sushi Kal gently brushed a stray piece of rice off his lips. Mostly because he couldn't keep his hands away from him. "Oh man, that's a pretty big choice then. A little prank or more target practice. Which to choose?"
Of course he was laughing as he put his hand over the opening of the water bottle and began filling it with warm, non-salty water. Jokes were one thing but kissing Cam was a whole other ballpark. Grinning, as he finished filling the bottle, he leaned over and deliberately kissed Cam on the cheek. "Oops, I think I missed. Guess i'd better try again."
"You got that right. I get up even with just one leg."
Cam smiled widely and sunnily at his knight, yup, he was definitely going to keep calling Kal that. And if he wanted Kal could keep calling Cam a foxy damsel, after all it had a lot of truth in it.
Though at this point Cam would happily accept any nickname Kal gave him.
"Besides, I've fallen over many times, few more times is nothing. Especially since you'll be there to catch me, right?"
Cam looked at Kal with an innocent smile and puppydog eyes, though you could still see the playful glint in his look.
As Kal accidentally bumped his leg against Cam's he smiled a bit and stretched his leg and returned the bump. Though Cam let his leg rest against Kal's, like he was resting the rest of his body against him as well.
"Oh, believe me, I will."
Cam answered and grinned, before eating the sushi. Afterwards he was just about to lick his lips when Kal caught the stray rice from them and made Cam blush.
"Choose wisely, my lips depend on it."
Cam answered with a playful tone and laughed along with Kal as he filled up the water bottle. Cam couldn't tell whether it was salt or sweet water, and he was lifting the bottle to his lips when Kal kissed his cheek. Cam squinted at him and lifted a single finger, telling Kal to wait. Cam tasted some of the water, in a way flushing his mouth in the process, and deemed the water sweet. So he closed the bottle, turned to face Kal with a small smile.
"Permission to try again granted."
The puppydog eyes were completely unnecessary- Kal meant it when he said he'd catch Cam if he fell. In whatever sense of the word- their references and analogies were getting complicated and confusing. But the look was cute on Cam for sure.
More contact between them. Kal definitely wasn't complaining about that one bit and he reached down to give Cam's leg a little squeeze. To let him know he knew he was there. And because he wasn't really thinking about things- just going on impulse.
"Hmm I guess I chose right then," he said as he was tempted to knock the water bottle over on Cam. What was one more spill between them? But he didn't and instead patiently waited his turn. With Cam's permission given he leaned in for a nice kiss right on the lips. But instead veered off at the last second to kiss Cam on the chin again. "Whoops!" He exclaimed as he burst into laughter. Okay he was teasing Cam a little bit. It was a lot of fun and it would make the next one just that much better.
To say Cam was looking forward to every single kiss with Kal was an understatement, and when the guy leaned in for another kiss Cam was already closing his eyes for it. But nope, instead Kal went and kissed his chin, and Cam blinked once before snorting and laughing along with Kal. He grinned and reached for Kal's hair, giving it a tug.
"Whoops, my ass. Come here."
With that Cam pulled Kal into a kiss by his hair, not pulling too hard though. And Cam made sure he didn't miss.
Cam took his sweet time with the kiss, closing his eyes and enjoying it whole-heartedly. And when he finally pulled back, only enough to speak, Cam grinned and twirled Kal's hair around his finger.
"You're lucky I have excellent aim."
He grunted a little at the hair pulling but Cam wasn't doing it to hurt him. He went along with the pulling and let himself be caught up in the kiss. And what a kiss it was.
He could barely even come up with words after they pulled away. "Mmph, you... that was good," was all he managed to get out at first. Tongue-tied and a little flustered. Even though he had been expecting the kiss it was still amazing.
"You know I think your aim might be better than mine," he snickered, "guess I just need more practice." He didn't go in for another kiss though. Instead he just wrapped Cam in the best hug he could given their slightly off positioning and pulled him close to just sit there for a moment. Not even paying attention as the sun was setting over the water in the distance.
