Selkiris thought carefully once more about what she said before slowly grabbing his hood, pulling it down and sighing. “Was this the face you saw Morgana?” Selkiris recognized the layout of the garden Morgana sketched, it was his and Morgan’s garden. “I don’t know why you are having these dreams, I truly don’t. But I promise you I’ll get to the bottom of it no matter what it takes.”

"Y-you...." Morgana whispered, a shaking hand stretching out to touch Selkiris's cheek. She swallowed thickly and drew her hand back. This was...weird. He felt so familiar, so safe, so comfortable yet so alien and strange at the same time. She fiddled with her apron, trying to stay calm before she whispered out another hoarse sentence. "Yes...I-it was y-y-you."

Her pale violet gaze ran over Selkiris. He was pale, skin laced with dark veins. He didn't look quite human any longer though she was unable to place why. But it was him. He was who haunted her at night. Morgana shuddered and thought over those implications. Why was she having dreams of his wife's life and death? She rubbed her arms, desperately wishing for the simplicity of her forest and life as a dog. It was simpler.

Selkiris was surprised when he heard Morgana whisper instead of write, but he didn’t make any movements so she could feel his face. “Morgana as I just said I don’t know why you are having these dreams but I’ll try my best to help.” Selkiris moved and took a sip of tea. He seemed to be acting so calm about all of this for some reason, like none of it was actually that big of a deal.

The fae nodded numbly. This was still confusing. Selkiris's calm reaction was as soothing as it was alarming. "Have....Have you e-encountered this.....be-fore?" her voice was weak as she meekly stared up at the eldritch man before her. He seemed confident and knowledgeable from what little she'd seen of him. At least, he knew about the fae and whatever else from their beach conversation. She smiled bitterly and took a sip of her tea, trying to calm her shaky nerves. She felt hopelessly ignorant in matters like this. Plants, small animals, gardening, knitting she could help. Magic? Her past? This garbage was beyond the ancient fae spirit. She had never had many relationships with sapient creatures let alone complex ones tangled in weird nightmares.

"If it helps you determine their origin, I got them first when humans began to encroach upon and disturb my forest. First I grew sick, then the nightmares, then they grew worse, I turned into a person after one, went mad when the men attempted to tear down the woods. I'm not entirely sure why or who's they are. I sprouted out of the ground a long time ago and have no memory of living as a human(oid)." Morgana slid the scrawled note to Selkiris. Even thinking about speaking that bit aloud made her throat constrict. So she wrote, as she always did.

Selkiris sighed and shook his head. “No Morgana, I can’t say I have. I’ve seen similar things though. There are many beings on this island, and there is certainly a population of those that use dreams in some way or are expertises in the field. I believe that you many wish to discuss your dreams with some of them.”

Selkiris opened up his book of species, which he had brought with him as always. He started to flip through some pages as they tried to find something. “There is also...another option. I know that an ancient being resides on this island, in a system of tunnels beneath the forest. It’s older than some of the first stars and has dedicated its life to the collection of knowledge. It’s seen just about everything and perhaps knows more about these dreams than most and if nothing else, can give some more well crafted theories.”

Morgana nodded at the suggestion of finding someone knowledgeable about dreams to talk to. That seemed...reasonable. The scouts had said something similar for adjusting to the island in general. Just as she was debating asking if he had reccomendations, Selkiris said something that made the fae tip her head to the side. She looked for all the world like a confused dog as she stared at him.

"...W-what?!" She squeaked. This was much louder than her last snippits of speech. Morgana clapped her hands over her mouth, surprised at herself for even saying it out loud. What was wrong with her today? This man-this creature- was doing something to her. She narrowed her eyes and studied Selkiris. Did he have some weird magic that made her spit out every stupid thought? It had taken months for her voice to find her when she first arrived and even now it hid away like a scared rabbit around others. "You...know a creature that old? W-will it eat us? How do you...How do you even meet something like that, Selkiris?" Oh, gods above and below, why would she not shut up. Morgana glowered at Selkiris like this was somehow his fault. She felt like the old squirrels who nattered away at everything that moved in her old forest.

"And stop whatever you're doing to make me talk. You'll get my hopes up about socializing with my students." Came the petulant huff as she crossed her arms over her chest. Morgana had never handled abrupt changes well. This was a lot for one day, but she wasn't about to let go of this chance to get rid of these dreams.

Selkiris had a face of mild surprise as Morgana spoke once again, and more loudly this time. Why was she suddenly speaking so loudly? “Yes I do know a creature that old. Most Eldritch were here before the universe actually began, and no they won’t eat us. They only really bite and eat in self defense.” At the question of how Selkiris actually met this being they seemed to have a little bit of a flashback, going dead quiet as they relived the meeting. “I’d rather not talk about how I met them. That was a dark time in my life and I’d prefer not to relive it.”

Selkiris took another sip of tea, staring at Morgana as she looked at him with some angered look. “I’m not doing anything to make you talk, I wasn’t expecting you to even talk today. You just started to do it all on your own.”

"Hmph!" Morgana averted her gaze and avoided trying to think too hard about that. "Well...we should go meet it sometime."

The woman paused, glancing back at Selkiris nervously, but seeing as it didn't look like he was judging her she relaxed a bit. The fae loosened up and rested her arms on the table again. Eventually she took another sip of her own tea trying to formulate her next words carefully. Regardless of how much she felt like she knew him, she didn't. She had his name, but not much else.

"If it's not a magic, I think it's because you're...you're him. You're-you feel..like....a friend? No, no...hm. That isn't quite the correct word for the feeling. Familiar, maybe." Her voice trailed off a bit, volume lowering as she mumbled through her thoughts out loud.

Selkiris nodded a little, as much as he didn’t ever want to see Index again he felt obliged to help Morgana figure out her strange dreams, especially if he was a part of them.

The more Selkiris looked at Morgana the more he realized how similar she was to Morgan. This realization only increased Selkiris’s reluctance to see Index out of dread of what that damned serpent might give as an answer Morgana’s dreams.

“Well Morgana I don’t know what to say, as far as I recall we have only just recently met. But I believe Index will give some better theories than I have given you. Index rarely ever leaves their tunnels so we can go and visit them whenever you are available.”
