Sprinkles was being incredibly stupid. This really was what they meant by curiosity killing the cat. Supposedly there was another part to that saying about how satisfaction brought it back, and that was Sprinkles' goal. He had called Tieragoran to ask for a face-to-face meeting for confirmation on what Tieragoran implied with his speeches. It would be a nice, friendly conversation, without the crying and use of gory imagery through words.

Sprinkles had picked out the library to meet up at. It was public, which was necessary with Tieragoran, and had private rooms you could reserve. It was perfect for what Sprinkles wanted to chat about. So he expected Tier to notice one room was reserved for Sprinkles, or at least notice him laying on the table lazily as he scrolled through his phone. Coming early allowed Sprinkles to gather his nerves too.

Tieragoran had been pleasantly surprised when Sprinkles had sent them a message, asking for a meeting. What was it going to be? The police, and Sprinkles would turn them in? Sprinkles, desperately begging for information on their poor owner? He ran through a variety of options as he strode into the library, looking professional and put together as he found the correct room and let himself in.

"Obviously your owner didn't do a very good job training you," Tier said as he clicked the door shut. "No animals on the furniture."

The door opened and closed, and Sprinkles knew things could only get interesting from here on out. He rolled over onto his stomach and said, "Dad did a great job at training me. I don't know what you're talking about." Then, he rolled over again and landed his feet on the floor, soon after moving to take a seat the table.

Sprinkles had on a cheeky little smile. Nothing to imply he was in control of the situation, just that he was here to have a nice chat. "Can we skip the pointless insults? I called you here because I want to know more about how we were made. You have the behind-the-scenes details, so you were the best and only person to ask. You can even go on your long villain speech, if you want."

"Trained you real well, I bet," Tier said with a snort. "Just like all the other fat fucks who bought you." He of course meant a general you - all the Nek0, not just Sprinkles, but that wasn't exactly super clear.

He didn't sit though. Instead he leaned against the wall, folding his arms across his chest, and raised an eyebrow.

"And what am I getting out of this, exactly?"

Why couldn't he be as polite and formal as he looked and acted the first time they met? Things would go a lot smoother like that.

Ignoring the rude response, Sprinkles shrugged. "I don't know you. All I know is that you need to eat human meat. What do you want? For the record, I don't get paid much, so drop any ideas that involve me giving you a lot of money right now."

What did he want? Not a lot, truthfully. The island had solved a lot of his issues in one swoop, but the more things changed, the more they stayed the same.

    What else was there?

Tier offered a shrug after a moment's consideration.

"I can't imagine a single thing that you could do which would have any real value to me. You don't have much money, you can't feed me, and you're not even slightly my type." He swept his eyes up and down, and then made a little noise of disgust.

"So, I'll spin it around: What can you offer? I'm a simple enough person as far as desires."

"Unfortunate that I'm not your type. Sprinkles looked Tieragoran up and down, but instead of making a noise of disgust, he whistled. "Give me a moment to think on what I could give you."

Sprinkles sat there in silence for about a minute, leaning back into his chair until he balanced on its two back legs. If Tieragoran wasn't going to sit down, then Sprinkles would use the table as a leg rest. Not like he had his shoes on.

"I doubt I have any information to give you. You like slaves, so maybe servitude? I have a lot going on though. Bleh. You made this harder than it needs to be. I could a gift card to a human meat shop. Or pay for your food for a month or two. I have enough money for that, just means I have to cut down on other things and hunt more."

Tieragoran made a look of disgust to match his noise of disgust when Sprinkles started listing thorugh his options. Even so, it wasn't immediately obvious what it was in response to.

"Pay for my food," Tieragoran said, "and we'll save the haggling. I'll charge you as much as the information is worth, since I have no idea what you're actually after. How's that sound?"

Realistically speaking, it left Sprinkles open--vulnerable to exploitation. But it wasn't as if the information had a fixed value.

"Sure. Whatever. Deal. What I'm after is what I said earlier. What making NEK0s was like. Uh, I don't know, you mentioned our lifespans, you mentioned defects. Oh, what was life for other NEK0s like? I want to know that too. I'm out of the loop with a lot of stuff regarding what I am, clearly."

So a very general tell me everything. A million questions, and Tier was more or less free to pick or choose what he wanted to talk about, wasn't he?

"You had a standard enough life," Tier said. "You're a high end luxury product, which means that most NEK0s were custom jobs. We had 'types', generally speaking, so not many people did full customs. A tweak here, a tweak there... We did have general rental models, but they were intended to appeal to as many people as possible. Generally slim, submissive, clear skin, shiny, healthy coat of fur. Lots of black cats -- people liked black cats for some reason. Standard models. We didn't really do rentals on defects like your friend. If a defect got returned, I'd say nine times out of ten we scrapped them. Retraining someone away from the life they grew up with? Fucking impossible."
