Alma was setting up posters in the dorms, strategically placing them so that people would see it not fewer than four times before they left the building or got back to their dorms. She was meticulous, practically vibrating with excitement.

Noelle normally didn't get involved in 'school politics.' She never felt it really meant anything, at least back at her old school in New York. It was just the popular kids competing for who was the most popular.

But Kal had dragged her in, and she wanted to support her friend. So she had gone to the speeches, to support her friend.

She hadn't expected coming out of it wanting to talk to Audric's girlfriend.

But here she was, approaching Alma in the dorm hall.

    "Hey..."

Alma smelled Noelle before anything else. Her nose was really tuned in to the scents around her. She stopped stapling her current flier to a bulletin board and turned, lowering the tool.

Oh, it was her. The girl who always gave her and Audric attitude for no reason. Or, not no reason probably. But Alma had never bothered to confront her about it. It was her problem, not Alma's.

Still, she wasn't going to push away someone wanting to talk to her.

    "Hey Noelle."

Noelle wasn't sure what to expect when she approached Alma. She thought she might be pissed--oh, look who showed up kind of attitude. But she wasn't acting like that. There was no doubt that Alma was the more mature one of the two of them. Even Noelle knew that full well.

Noelle rubbed the back of her neck.

"Your speech was really fucking good. It was...really fucking brave."

Alma rubbed the back of her neck, grinning a bit. "Uh, thanks. I mean... I just spoke from my heart. The things that are important to me."

She brushed some of her hair out of her face. "So, did you want to talk about anything?"

    Noelle nodded.

    "Yeah, uh..."

She swallowed as her hand moved to her hair.

"I'm sorry I flipped out about Audric. It just sort of hit me like a truck and I did not handle it well."

It was not easy to admit that she had been a big ol' bitch, but something in the honesty of Alma's speech had compelled her to confront it, rather than harbor the resentment.

    "It's fine, ya know? Uh..."

Alma shifted a little closer to Noelle so they didn't have to speak too loudly. "I, uh, gotta keep putting up posters. You wanna help so we can keep talking?"

Alma finished stapling the latest poster to the bulletin board and smoothed it down.

Noelle stepped closer too, and even pulled down her face mask so she would be easier to hear.

    "Yeah, I'd like that."

She gave a little lopsided grin as she took a few posters.

"I never really paid attention to this student election stuff back home. It always just seemed like a bunch of kids trying to stroke their own egos."

She glanced down at one of Alma's posters.

"But my friend Kal roped me into her campaign, and she's really taking it seriously. And clearly, you are too. I think you'd make a great president."

Alma moved down the hallway, handing some of the posters to Noelle. "Heh, thanks. I'm trying my best, ya know?"

As they continued, Alma kept talking. "So, uh, what actually is the deal between you and Audric? I mean..." Alma had an idea, but she didn't want to flat out say it and make Noelle feel stupid.

    "Oh..."

    Noelle let out a sigh.

"I had a big, dumb crush on him. Tried way too hard to impress him and get his attention."

She pulled out a poster to put up on the wall.

"I guess when I realized he was already dating you and Iggy, I just felt like he was leading me on. I felt like such an idiot...ugh..."

    Noelle rubbed at her face.
