"It's beautiful is what it is. Anything that makes you wake up in the morning, or face the day, and doesn't leave you in dread... maybe you'll eventually come round and realize the beauty of having any purpose. And he sounds like a cool guy."

Cool wasn't exactly how Adelaida would describe someone wasted at who-knows-when in the morning looking for a dorm room, but hey, she'd been there. On one of the nights, when she decided to attempt replacing the exhaustion with drunkenness, she had a night that was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

"Once got that drunk too... literally crawled home, remember a bunch of cars were figuring out how to get me off the road. Don't know how the cops didn't get involved. Woke up around half a day later with my bed on fire. Good thing my house is fireproof, just for incidents exactly like that."

"Wow, that's really something..." Bel whistled softly as she glanced curiously at her nameless companion. She hadn't realised the full extent of her powers. The idea of waking up on fire sounded terrifying to Bel.

"I guess, you could say that things got really heated that night, couldn't you?!" she deadpanned, throwing in a dumbass pun to hopefully lighten the mood.

Adelaida gave a wry grin. Her humor was similarly devoid of cutting wit, and was mostly the same as that terrible joke.

"On the bright side, I don't ever need to dress up or doll up. I'm always hot when I wake up, and I get baked a lot," she said dryly, without skipping a beat.

Her companion's attempts were comforting. While Adelaida felt no unease with being cooked alive, having grown used to the sensation, she felt that a normal, human reaction would be to try and steer away from the awkwardness.

It was nice to have normal human company.

"Right.. So what you're saying, basically, is that you are too handle and if people rub you the wrong way they just might get burnt," Bel laughed, realising that she was having a very nice time. Better than she ever expected she would when she climbed to the roof to meditate arly that evening.

"You know ... This has been nice," she told her unknown female companion. "Thank you. I actually feel better than when I first arrived," she admitted very truthfully, glad now that she had decided to stay and exchange secrets like they had.

Adelaida gave a dry smile. She was enjoying having company, and it was always good when they too enjoyed hers.

"It's been a good night. Always like it when there's no pressure, no nothing, just relaxing talk."

"Same," Bel replied easily and in total agreement.

"We should do this again, maybe?" she suggested questioning. "I don't know if you want to exchange real names or not, or just go by a made-up name instead?" she asked, not wanting to force her companion into an uncomfortable situation if they were not interested.

"Adriana. Your call on whether that's my real name or not," Adelaida said with a smile. She enjoyed this little tryst, and it left her feeling less exhausted than before.

However, now that she was given the option to give a fake name, she instead gave her sister's, out of whimsy. She contemplated for a bit whether or not to reveal her real name. There was no value in hiding it, after all.

Then again, there was no value in revealing it.

"Alanna," Bel countered with a grin of her own, giving "Adriana" her real name which was unknown to everybody but two, maybe three, people on the island since she always went by Bel, a shortened version of Beltane, the name she had been baptized with when she became a goddess

"And you can also decide, if you want, if' that's my name is real or not," she said as she got to her feet to leave. It was probably late evening now and time for her to be getting back to her room.

"Well, it was nice knowing you, Alanna. We'll see if the fates have anything for us, but I think tonight's been a pleasant enough night."

Adelaida began to walk away, down the stairs. Hopefully, she could get a good night's sleep for once.
