Lorelai stood outside to get out of the hustle and bustle of the lunch room. She wasn't feeling hungry and truthfully, Rory had never liked eating in public or in front of people. She didn't know why it wasn't like she had an eating problem but there was something oddly intimate and vulnerable about it.

She picked at her food and peered around for somewhere to sit.

Being such a nice day, Rayne was sitting outside of the cafeteria in the sun. Why would she want to sit inside on a day like this? Besides the cafeteria was usually crowded and loud and it really wasn't her scene. She had her food beside her, an apple in her hand and a book propped up on her knees.

Rayne wasn't reading at this exact moment, she was people watching in the cafeteria from her spot outside the chaos inside. How anyone can think in there let alone hear each other without yelling.

Rory found a seat near a girl. She looked normal beyond the large ears. Lorelai figured she was maybe an Elf? That seemed the most logical race. "Hey," she said when she sat nearby with her tray propped on her own knees, precariously balanced.

Rayne does try to hide her pointed ears behind her hair usually, but today its just behind them. Makes it easier to read when her hair isn't hanging in her face and covering words from her book. When the girl sits down by her, she looks over towards her wondering why this girl is sitting by her and not in the busy cafeteria like everyone else. Perhaps she was like her, not liking the noise and the business. "Hello."

"Hope you don't mind if I sit here?" Rory paused, then set her tray on the ground so it wouldn't end up crashing down on her and causing a big mess. "What're you reading?"

Rayne shrugs lightly at her question of her sitting beside her. "I don't mind" It isn't her spot so she cant exactly tell her to leave and expect her to listen. Its school grounds, people go where they want, mostly. Placing a finger on the page she is on, she closes the book so the girl beside her can see the cover. "Throne of Glass."

Rory had never heard of that book, but that was unsurprising. Where she was from, there was no saying it was even a thing. She wasn't subtle about her confusion.

"Oh. Uh. You didn't have to stop reading because of me. But, eh, what's the book about?"

Rayne didn't know if she was going to stop reading her book because this girl sat beside her or if she was going to keep reading despite having her sit by her. She was still debating this. "It's a...fantasy book I guess. Fae, humans, magic, demons. Things like that. Its harder to explain whats in the first book alone when I have read the others."

"Oh. Right." Rory rubbed the back of her neck and took the moment to look away. This was awkward. She tried to remember a time, back home, when she'd been decent with people. Now everything was turned upside down.

"Maybe I'll check it out. I never read much fantasy back home."

Rayne cant remember a time when she didn't have books to read once she learned how that is. Now being good with people...yeah not really. People tend to look at her ears a lot or stare at her eyes because they are different colors. She found it weird and uncomfortable really.

During the silence, Rayne realizes they didn't introduce themselves and slightly offers her hand to shake, if she wants to that is. "I'm Rayne."
